    US Congress (DE)

    In 2024 Sarah became our country’s first transgender member of Congress, and she this year she was the first freshman representative to pass a bipartisan bill. She is a change maker and a bridge builder and will be running for reelection in 2026. Learn more about Sarah McBride.

  • Erica Deuso

    Downington Mayor (PA)

    Erica Deuso is a scientist, advocate, and community leader running to make history as Pennsylvania’s first out transgender mayor. With advanced degrees in science and business, she has built a career in innovation, business improvement, and advocacy. Erica serves on the boards of the Pennsylvania Equality Project, PFLAG West Chester/Chester County, and Emerge Pennsylvania and is an Executive Committee member of the Chester County Democrats.   • Ashley Shade

    North Adams City Council (MA)

    Ashley was the first transgender elected official in North Adams. Ashley was elected to her first term as a City Councilor in 2021 and took office in January 2022. In 2022 Ashley left the Libertarian Party and in 2023 she joined the Democratic Party and served as the Political Director and Vice President of the Democratic Freedom Caucus.   • James Johnson

    Skokie Village Clerk (IL)

    James is an educator, advocate, and the first out LGBTQ+ member of the Skokie Village Board. They have championed local initiatives for sustainability, affordable housing, and electoral reform, and now they're running for Village Clerk, to make Skokie's government more welcoming, transparent, and accessible than ever before. Learn more about James Johnson.

  • Nicholas Shepherd

    Waukegan School Board (IL)

    Nicholas Shepherd is an attorney, prosecutor, and community advocate running to make history as Waukegan’s first out non-binary school board member. Nicholas lives in Waukegan, Illinois with his husband of 10 years and their 16 year old foster son who is a Junior at Waukegan High School. Nicholas currently serves on the planning committee for Lake County Pridefest, and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee at the Lake County State Attorney’s Office.  Learn more about Nicholas Shepherd.
